The
Dia-Braze features a single reflection diamond optical
element which is brazed into tungsten carbide as its sampling
stage. The anvil that compresses the sample onto the sampling
stage is sapphire. This combination of extremely hard and
durable materials enables application of extremely high
pressures on the sample using the bridge style pressure
applicator, which has a built in pressure control mechanism.
By enhancing contact between the optic and the diamond optical
sampling stage, optimum optical contact is assured.
Once optimum optical contact has been achieved, no increase
in absorbance intensity is possible and maximum sensitivity
is achieved. By assuring optimum contact, the Dia-Braze
enables control over reproducibility of results from sample
to sample.
The Dia-Braze is available with several very useful
options. There are seven anvil options (see product description
below) which include the standard sapphire anvil, volatiles
cover, view through, flow through, pellet anvil, reactive
anvil, flat anvil, and 2 grooved anvils. A germanium top
plate is available for very strongly absorbing samples.
An optional heated top plate with diamond optics can heat
samples to 200°C. A reaction vessel for pressures up
to 3000 psi at 200°C is available for flow through and
static sampling. A wire holder top plate set with two (2)
grooved anvils is available for the study of coated wires.
A specular reflection top plate is available for micro reflectance
samples, very highly absorbing samples and carbon black
containing polymers.
